(Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) is the governing body which ensures that international trade in specimens of wild animals and plants does not threaten the survival of these animals and plants. The history of Hoodia gordonii. Early scripts indicate that Hoodia dates back to about 1779 when it was found by col. Robert Jacob Gordon in the vicinity of the Orange river. Col. Gordon was a Dutch officer of Scottish descent. He presented it to Masson who published drawings of the plant under the name Stapelia gordonii in 1796. Read more
